Precision Formulations for Compromised Skin
The skin is the body’s primary defense mechanism, but when that barrier is compromised by inflammatory conditions, standard commercial treatments can sometimes do more harm than good. At Whole Health Compounding Pharmacy Glebe, we specialize in “clean” dermatological compounding. We remove the irritating alcohols, perfumes, and preservatives found in mass-produced products and replace them with high-purity active ingredients in a base tailored specifically to your skin’s unique physiology.
The Science of "Pharmaceutical Elegance"
In dermatology, the “vehicle” (the cream, lotion, or gel) is just as critical as the medication itself. If the base is too greasy, the patient won’t use it; if it’s too thin, the medication won’t penetrate. We use a two-step engineering process to ensure every dermatology compound is both effective and pleasant to apply.
Sub-Micron Milling (The Ointment Mill)
Most skin irritations occur because the active medication hasn’t been properly incorporated into the cream, leaving a “gritty” texture.
- The Process: We pass every dermatological preparation through our Three-Roll Ointment Mill.
- The Result: This reduces the particle size of active ingredients to a sub-micron level. Smaller particles provide a vastly larger surface area, allowing the medication to penetrate the stratum corneum (the outer skin layer) much more efficiently and reach the deeper dermal layers where healing occurs.
Blade-Free Planetary Mixing (The MAZ)
Traditional mixing methods introduce air and heat, which can oxidize sensitive dermatological ingredients like Vitamin C, Hydroquinone, or Retinoids.
- The MAZ Advantage: Our MAZ Planetary Mixer uses centrifugal force to mix and de-aerate (remove air bubbles) simultaneously.
- Oxidation Protection: By mixing in a sealed container without a blade, the MAZ prevents “shear stress” on delicate molecules and eliminates air pockets. This results in a stable, long-lasting cream that maintains its potency and color for the duration of your therapy.
Our Dermatology Compounding Specialties
Inflammatory Conditions (Eczema, Psoriasis, & Rosacea)
Commercial foams and sprays often contain high concentrations of alcohol that sting or dry out the skin. We can compound high-potency corticosteroids or calcineurin inhibitors in soothing, emollient bases that hydrate while they heal.
Advanced Acne & Hyperpigmentation
We create customized combinations that are not available at standard retail pharmacies. This includes:
- Synergistic Blends: Combining antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and retinoids into a single, non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) cream.
- Tailored Strengths: Adjusting the percentage of active ingredients to minimize “purging” or irritation during the initial stages of treatment.
Scalp & Hair Health
Standard hair loss treatments can be greasy and difficult to apply. We use the MAZ to create non-residue foams and liquids for alopecia and seborrheic dermatitis. These formulations allow for maximum scalp contact without interfering with your daily hair styling.
The Whole Health Glebe Standard: Clean Compounding
We prioritize the removal of common “trigger” ingredients. Upon request, we can formulate your dermatology products to be:
- Preservative-Free & Paraben-Free
- Fragrance-Free & Dye-Free
- Alcohol-Free & Hypoallergenic
